I was a good friend of the family...as you may know he was a twin.. his brother is Robert...We all met while at Bryson Ave...we were in the same scout troop...troop 454...I used to leave my bike at their house when I was going to Jr High...Well both of them were well liked by all of their peers...If I remember right...Roland was diagnosed with a brain tumor around the first of the year ('56) and I believe they said there really wasn't much hope for his recovery but all of us kept praying for a miracle...he ended up being bedridden for the last few weeks before his death... anyway, the school made arrangements and presented him with a diploma before the class was to graduate...he passed away at home before graduation...needless to say Robert was devastated ... I was told by the family that at the moment Roland passed and before they could tell Robert, Robert took off running...It was tough...something about twins...when they were younger one of them would run into the house and start telling their mom something and in the middle of the conversation that twin would leave and the other would come in and pick up the story....Their dad would tell a story about them playing on the floor when they were around 2 - 3 years old...they would be sitting back to back playing with blocks and without either of them making a sound one would pick up a block and pass it over his shoulder to the other one and it was a block that he needed....
